What is the Keto Diet?
Have you ever heard of the Keto Diet? If not, we’re here to change that. Keto is short for “Ketogenic”, and it’s called this way because this diet produces tiny energy molecules called Ketones or ketogenic bodies. And these are, to put it simply, an extra boost for the body when there is a deficiency of glucose in our blood.
Ketones are produced in the liver from fat. Then, our body uses it as energy for every inch of our insides, including the brain. The brain is a very particular organ, because it can’t be fed directly from fat. It will only work with glucose or ketones, and it consumes large amounts of energy per day.
When you start trying this diet, your body will also start changing its energy supply to work with fat almost completely all the time. This is wonderful, of course, if you’re trying to lower your weight. But that’s not its only benefit!! You’ll also be less hungry and have a stable energy supply.
When our bodies produce ketones, it’s called a “body in ketosis”. You can achieve this by fasting, but you can’t do that for the rest of your life!! A ketogenic diet can be practiced forever!! And it will also give you as a result, a body in ketosis.
Now, we know that when you read the word “diet” all alarms set because you don’t want to stop eating yummy stuff… but that’ll not be the case!! You just need to change a little some products you consume; we’ll give you a few options on what to eat and what not to eat when you are trying the keto diet:

The most important thing you need to do is: avoid most carbs. You’d have to lower your carb consume below 50gr, if you achieve to consume only 30gr, even better!
Try to avoid: bread, pasta, rice and potatoes. These foods are super high on carbs than most. You should also avoid sugary foods as well. Remember, a strictly low in carbs diet with high amounts of fat instead of protein.
Use natural fats, like olive or avocado oil and raw coconut oil to cook your meals, you’ll notice the difference in the flavor and it will be so tasty you’ll just love it!! Eat vegetables that grow on the soil’s surface and, as we said, you don’t have to give up yummy stuff!
